This gallery, "Stations of the Scale," deals with the serious issue of eating disorders in a humorous yet insightful way in constructed self-portraits of the photographer.
Many of the images were exhibited in July and August 2010 at the Griffin Museum of Photography in Winchester, MA in a two-person show during the 16th National Juried Exhibition. In his review of the show in The Boston Globe, Mark Feeney called the work "playful and witty and not a little sad." They were also shown September-November 2011 at the Newbury College Gallery in Brookline, MA.
The author, who holds an Ed.M. from Harvard Graduate School of Education, is available to talk to groups about the etiology and treatment of eating disorders from her perspective.
Many of the images were taken from the book "Stations of the Scale: A Photographic Memoir About Food and Suffering," by Andrea Rosenthal, published 2009. To purchase copies of the book, follow the link in the Buying Info & Production Notes section on the left.
Individual images are available for purchase as prints on high-quality archival paper. For more information, see the Contact section on the left. To arrange an exhibit, please contact Andrea@AndreaRosenthal.com.

Yearning (Wyeth) 2011 Archival inkjet 14"h x 21"w
|
This image was made at the Olson House in Cushing, Maine, the site where Andrew Wyeth painted "Christina's World," which this image references. "Seventeen" magazine from the 1950's represents the ideal I yearned for as an impressionable teen. |
